Hmm, Wall Of The Eyeless… a death metal band? At least according to their MA page? Well, going by their vocals, yes, but by their production? It’s less “Left hand path” & early 90’s Morrisound and more old-school Darkthrone & dentist drill-buzz guitar, with this really weak, papery rhythm guitar sound. And the other elements aren’t much better, either. Yeah, I know it’s just a demo, but that doesn’t help the actual experience any, when you have to listen to it multiple times for your stub, and y’know, no one forced them to send this to us, so tough titty, or something.

Anyway, the riffing is catchy enough (if surprisingly black metal-y in place), and there is the occasional, interesting touch here like a touch of acoustic or synth action, or a more melodic part, but it doesn’t fix the inadequate production, or make the more straightforward DM sections unique, really. Methinks they need to go more progressive/epic or something similar. So…

6/10: Would not say no to hearing a full-length, but I still can’t get too excited about Eyeless in today’s crowded metal world.
